Camden's Proud Galleries were host to a brand new monthly event
last night, as Who's Jack Magazine held their very first live
embodiment of the mag in Jack Comes Alive. In a rather genius spin
for a Wednesday evening, the magazine came alive with bands, DJs,
fashion shoots, dating games and gifts all who have featured in
previous editions...cool huh?

Proud Galleries' second birthday bash was packed full of bands,
and live performance, so much so that some quite serious
concentration was needed to see everything that was going on - a
quality which is not my forte especially with a free bar on offer -
but a good tactic for keeping the crowds constantly entertained and
not waiting around in between acts as normal.

Proud Camden is now into its third year of heavyweight line-ups
by night, and chilled-out funkiness by day, and it turned 2 in
style.

The evening started off with a good few drinks on the excellent
roof terrace.

Those of you who have only stumbled into Proud Camden once the
sun has set, and with a few too many brandies in you, might not
have realised that the area outside where you slope off to have a
fag, past the stables and the toilets, is beautifully kitted out
for the summer.

CONTROVERSIAL Camden songstress Amy Winehouse took to the stage
at Proud Camden's second birthday celebrations last week - and
reignited her long-standing feud with rival Lily Allen.

How civilised: there are sofas, chairs and tables arranged in
front of the stage. The first impression on entering the South
Gallery of venue Proud Camden, off Chalk Farm Road. It is 9pm at
the June edition of Against Nature, an evening of music and
performance curated by Dickon Edwards: writer, dysfunctional dandy,
flâneur, lyricist, DJ, and former member of the recording
artistes Fosca and Orlando.

Normally I associate barns with horses. But the place
itself is actually alot more comfortable than a barn and smells
pretty good too. This late night haunt stands out as one of the
quirkier clubs in London. A gallery by day and a club by night it
attracts crowds from all over the hemisphere. It is kitted out with
couches and a pin ball machine. There is a kareoke room and a room
where you can play dress up. A surreal experience in itself it has
amazing artists perform on a regular basis. Furthermore, it's
tricky to find a place with a good vibe on a random Monday night,
especially one as big as Proud. Thursday is the night to go with
cheap entry price, around £6 with a flyer and extremely cheap
drinks.

Chances are you'll be coming to Proud for more than just tooting
around a room of framed artwork-a busy programme offers plenty of
reasons to visit this multifaceted exhibition space, gallery, club
and live music venue. If your preferred crowd is tousle-haired,
skinny-jean wearing rock boys and hip, pretty indie princesses,
then Proud is the place for you, especially come opening
nights.
