Speaking at London's Proud Gallery venue, he said: "This whole
venue is about as big as the entire stage Blur were playing on at
Glastonbury a couple of years back. This is one of my favourite
venues though.

By eight o'clock the queues were snaking thirty deep down the
cobbled alley feeding into Proud; maybe it was Graham Coxon - maybe
it was word of mouth - that for breadth and adventure, the Levi's
Craft of Music roster was well worth the hassle at the Camden
Crawl.

Things had started early. By 2pm the private rooms flanking the
arena - that used to stable horses injured pulling barges up Camden
Lock - were packed with backstage activites, from opportune
photoshoots and interviews, to the solemn figure of Fyfe
Dangerfield trying various jeans on. Martyna Baker kicked things
off - an Eska Mtungwazi-mould soul singer, 'Going hard tonight' she
told us, her tone asperated and grainy like it came through a
saxophone valve.

Converted from a two hundred year old, Grade 2 listed horse
hospital and situated in the historic stables market, Proud Camden
is a truly unique venue dedicated to showcasing the finest in newly
emerging talent. From a who's who list of the top artists and bands
including the likes of Florence and the Machine, Amy Winehouse and
Babyshambles, Proud Camden has secured a reputation as one of the
City's most influential and contemporary arenas for delivering
first class entertainment and unrivalled uniqueness.

"This isn't a new discovery or a "hidden gem" - for over a
decade now Proud Galleries has brought behind the scenes insightful
and sometimes controversial photography to the public ... The venue
is a mix I see often in London: grime and glamour combined. Proud
Galleries is an old horse hospital so the individual booths for
drinking, dancing and chilling in are original horse stables with
dancing poles on tables ... The newly refurbished, glass-clad
outdoor area was once a courtyard and all the old brick floors have
remained in tact. There are two gallery rooms - both turn into
dance floors once the club nights, offering new and established
bands and DJs, kick off. Come in the early evening for dinner to
watch the transition from gallery to club."

Fire breathing, flexible felines on podiums and scantily clad
hostesses were out in force creating surprisingly hypnotic visuals
at the launch of Proud2 last week. There was some good music too.
March 3 saw the opening party of the new superclub at The O2 Arena,
packed with a line up of live acts and DJ sets from The Mystery
Jets, The Bees, Friendly Fires, Horse Meat Disco and Mr Hudson.

Circus freaks and performance artists swinging from ropes and
cages hanging from the ceiling entertained revellers along side the
headline acts. Apparently organiser Alex Proud got the idea on a
trip to Vegas and vowed to recreate the experience in London.

Following the £1 million refurbishment of the former
Matter venue, the club is now decked with chandeliers and geometric
painted walls.

The venue's second floor was home to the Leopard Lounge
featuring gold Art Deco inspired leopard sculptures and strange
gold spray painted bananas and chilli's strewn over the tables.

Where Proud2 might succeed, where Matter miserably failed is
that Proud is running its own transport system until 6am in the
shape of a menagerie of Routemaster buses to Liverpool Street,
Kingscross at Londonbridge at £2 a ticket - so you are not
left stranded in North Greenwich.

Also no more having to brave the cold outside the 02 - Proud
shuttle buses will transport you from North Greenwich Tube station
straight to the club door, every five minutes, from 10pm.

But fashions are nothing if not cyclical, and since 2006, the
British entrepreneur Alex Proud has combined the modern
cabaret-burlesque movement with a super club twist to give us Proud
Camden, Proud Cabaret, Proud Chelsea, and most recently, Proud
Brighton in 2010. According to his PR, all of the venues bear the
hallmark house style of vintage cool and retro entertainment. Let's
see about that.

Professor Green ditched the suit he wore to the Brit Awards as
he took to the stage at the Roundhouse in London at Mark Ronsons
show. It was a busy night for Ronson, who had to play both DJ and
peacemaker at the party after the show at Proud Camden.
